How to Download YouTube Shorts to Your Phone

How to Download YouTube Shorts to Your Phone

Why It's Tricky

YouTube lets you save Shorts to your watch-later list but has no native download to camera roll option. Third-party tools fill this gap.

3 Steps to Download a Short

  • Open YouTube, find the Short, tap Share → Copy Link. The URL looks like youtube.com/shorts/xxxxx.
  • Paste it into FreeMediaKit's YouTube Shorts Downloader.
  • Hit Download — the MP4 at the highest available resolution saves to your device.

Saving to iPhone Camera Roll

On Safari: tap the Download icon in the toolbar → tap the file → Share → Save Video. On Chrome iOS: open in Files first, then move to Photos.

Saving to Android

Files go to your Downloads folder automatically. Move to Gallery from there using your file manager.

Does It Work for Private Shorts?

No. Only public Shorts can be downloaded. Private/unlisted videos require you to be signed into the owning account.
