Why iPhone Is Different
iOS is more restrictive than Android about where downloaded files go. The Files app is the key — everything goes through it before hitting your camera roll.
Method: Safari + FreeMediaKit
- Copy the YouTube URL.
- Open FreeMediaKit's YouTube Downloader in Safari.
- Paste the URL and tap Download.
- Safari shows a download progress indicator in the top bar.
- Tap the download indicator → tap the file → tap Share → Save Video.
- The video is now in your Photos app.
Using Chrome on iPhone
Chrome on iOS doesn't have Safari's download manager. Instead, the file goes to Chrome's Downloads section. From there: tap the file → Share → Save to Files → then move from Files to Photos manually.
Storage Tip
A 10-minute 1080p YouTube video is roughly 300–700 MB. Check your available storage before downloading long videos.
💡 Use AirDrop to move videos from your Mac to iPhone if you downloaded them on a desktop browser.
